As I took over responsibility of the design system one of the first things I did was to rework the contrast values of the colors and text, making it easier to read both the text and graphs in the application. Obviously this is necessary for universal design, but it also work improves the visualization in the app, which is one of the key features that make users want to use Diri over other tools.
One of the key features of Diri is the bowtie risk assessment model. The key challenge of this tool is to try to not overwhelm the user with at a glance information, while letting them see what they need without having to dig down all the time. Through quantitative research via a questionnaire recent changes were made to some terms, icons and grouping of treatments, to make their connection clearer to the user.
Diri's design system is ever growing, but organizing it properly ensures that assets are reused across the app, making the experience consistent. Creating proper components in Figma is a process which front-loads the work, which makes it hard to do in time sensitive situations. However when possible it saves a lot of time as designing in Figma becomes a drag-and-drop software.
